Juvenile Dies at the Scene of Late-Night Shooting
Major Crimes Detective Seek Witnesses, Videos, and Answers
Spokane Valley Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a late-night shooting at a party held at a Spokane Valley residence. Major Crimes Detectives obtained little information from the party attendees, but preliminary information indicates that the shooting is possibly gang-related and not a random incident.
** Neighbors in and around the 900 block of S. Beige are urged to review home video footage and report any suspicious vehicles or activity an hour before midnight (11:00 pm-February 6) and an hour after (1:00 am-February 7).
On February 7, 2021, just after midnight, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to multiple calls of gunshots in the 900 block of S. Beige Road in Spokane Valley.
Arriving Deputies located a crowd of people standing around a juvenile male lying on the ground in front of the residence. They began life-saving aid to the victim who had been shot. Spokane Valley Fire and AMR personnel arrived and took over medical care, but unfortunately, despite everyone's efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Major Crimes Detective were called to the location to conduct the investigation. They remained at the scene throughout the night and morning, collecting evidence with Spokane County Sheriff’s Forensic Technicians' assistance.
Initial information indicates the shooting which cost this young man his life may be gang-related. However, at this time, Investigators have limited information regarding the suspect(s).
Major Crimes Detectives are requesting the help of anyone who witnessed this incident or has information about activities leading up to or following the shooting. They are also for people who live in or around the 900 block of S. Beige to review their home video footage and report any suspicious vehicles or activity between approximately 11:00 pm on February 6th, and 1:00 am on February 7th.

Detective Ask for the Public’s Help to Identify Construction Site Criminal(s)

Detectives are investigating an incident where the suspect(s) caused over $100,000 worth of damage to numerous large construction equipment at a development located at the end of Scenic Lane, south of Columbia Drive during the early morning hours of September 23, 2020. This senseless vandalism not only caused an excess amount of needed repairs, it also cost the developer and his employees a large and valuable amount of time. The suspect(s) also stole sewer PVC pipe from the scene.

Spokane County Investigative Unit (SCIU) Detectives ask for the public’s help to identify the suspect(s) and hold them accountable for this ridiculous act of vandalism.
SCIU is hoping someone recognizes the pictured suspect vehicle or has observed someone with a similar truck in possession or dispose of PVC sewer pipe or similar to the pipe pictured.
They also request homeowners in the area with security video that captures vehicles as they drive by their residences to check their footage of September 23rd, between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., for video of the suspect vehicle.

Reward Offered for Unidentified Residential Burglary Suspects

The victims of a residence located in the 7800 block of N. Adams reported their home had been burglarized on three separate occasions. The burglaries occurred between July 3, 2020, and July 11, 2020, and each time the victims filed a report.
SCIU Detectives opened an investigation into the three incidents and found that some of the victim’s property had been pawned at Pawn-1 on N. Monroe. Pawn 1 requires valid identification from people who pawn property at their business.
Detective Hixson contacted the staff at Pawn-1 regarding the transaction and collected the needed evidence, information, and stolen property.
Through the continued investigation, SCIU identified and later developed probable cause to arrest two suspects, 40-year-old Joseph E. Rowley, a 4-time convicted felon, and 43-year-old Christopher D. Sheldon, a 30-time convicted felon.
On July 14, 2020, Rowley was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary, Trafficking in Stolen Property 1st Degree, and Driving while License Revoked 1st Degree, stemming from the burglary committed on July 11, 2020.
On July 29, 2020, Sheldon was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary (2-counts) and Trafficking Stolen Property 1st Degree, stemming from the burglaries committed on July 3, and July 8, 2020. Sheldon is also in custody on an array of unrelated charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree (2-counts), and Possession of a Controlled Substance (4-counts).
Investigators understand these pictures are not of high quality but they hope someone may recognize the suspects if they know them. Of note, one suspect has a yellow “puffy” style coat and a black backpack that may help someone identify him.
This remains an active investigation, and SCIU Detectives ask anyone with information regarding Joseph E. Rowley or Christopher D. Sheldon, or these burglaries to contact Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest, reference #10087910.

Thieves Steal Liberty High School Band Instruments Worth Thousands

Investigators are still investigating the burglary of Liberty High School, where over $15,000 worth of instruments, were stolen on January 13, 2020. The tips received have not led to the recovery of the instruments, nor helped investigators identify the suspect(s) and hold them accountable.
Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is now offering a reward to assist investigators in identifying the suspect(s) who stole these musical instruments without any apparent care of how their selfish act would affect the students and staff of Liberty High School and the community it serves.
Male Suspected of Stealing Handgun
January 21, 2020
On January 10, 2020, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Spokane Valley Deputies responded to American Pawn and Gun located at 8112 E. Sprague for the report of a stolen firearm.
Employees stated they noticed a handgun, Rossi .357 revolver, was missing from one of the gun cases. After a search determined the pistol wasn’t sold or held for a customer, they began reviewing their security footage.
The video showed on January 7, 2020, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the male in the photo arrived at the store in what appears to be a white, late 1990’s-early 2000’s Toyota Tacoma. He entered the store and began looking at several different items.
While the employee’s sight was obscured, the male is observed reaching over the counter and removing the pistol from the case. He places the handgun in his pocket before walking over to contact the employee.
After an extended conversation, the male leaves the business with the stolen firearm in his pocket.
The male is described as a white male, in his late 30’s, approximately 6’02”, 225-240 lbs. with brown hair and beard.

Stolen Handguns: Who Is This?

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit (SCIU) Detectives would like your help identifying this male.
On December 14, 2019, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to North 40 Outfitters located at 15228 N. Newport Hwy. for a reported burglary.
Deputies learned the male suspect, wearing glasses and a distinctive camo hat with earflaps, broke into the store, approached the handgun display cases, picked the third case, and smashed the glass with a large splitting maul/ax. He selected seven handguns from the gun case and ran out of the backdoor of the business.
Detectives are attempting to identify this male and working to locate and recover these stolen firearms.
In addition, Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is now offering a reward to assist SCIU Detectives as they work to recover the stolen firearms and identify this brazen gun thief.
Investigators are aware the videos/pictures are not clear. Still, they believe anyone who knows the suspect will recognize his mannerisms, clothing, and camo hat or have information regarding the stolen handguns.

Reward For MLK Incident

Spokane Police detectives are looking to the public for tips regarding a hate crime and have partnered with Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest to offer a reward. The incident occurred on November 14th/15th at the Martin Luther King Center. Spokane Police Detectives are seeking information from the public regarding the hate crime/graffiti that occurred on November 14th/15th. Suspect(s) painted hateful graffiti on the wall at the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center located at 845 S. Sherman. Detectives are specifically looking for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area of Sherman St. and 8th Ave. on the evening/early morning of November 14th/15th.
